Description
Demolition and reconstruction of the canteen and new classrooms serving the Jacopo Salviati Primary School, located at 168 Via Bolognese in Florence.
From a structural standpoint, the new portion of the building is designed with a load-bearing structure entirely made of X-LAM timber, with reinforced concrete foundations.
The choice of timber for the load-bearing structure was driven by the fact that buildings constructed with this material are able to best reconcile structural, architectural and building services requirements. In particular, timber structures can ensure high performance in terms of seismic safety, which is a key priority in the design of school buildings.
